How powerful can Social Media be?

It doesn’t matter how big or small your business is, if you want to have an effective online presence, a strategy needs to be put in place to improve the results of your Social Media campaigns.

A properly structured campaign for your business will allow you to interact and engage with your clients, create brand awareness, learn more about what your customers want and generate more sales.

Below you will find a couple of tips on how you can increase your Social Media results.

1. Establish a procedure

One of the most important things to take into account is that Social Media can’t be use as a band-aid or as a tool to get you on the front page of Google.

The key components to avoid your account being banned are repetition, persistence and patience.

Did you know that it takes twenty minutes to get back to where you were initially when you get distracted? This is why taking time out of your day to work on Social Media will interfere with your business’ most important tasks.

Don’t waste time! Using a Social Media management tool will save you time and the hassle of logging in to each platform.

But, how can you organise your content and build a procedure?

  • Schedule time out. Book two to three hours a week in your calendar to only work on Social Media.
  • Planning, planning, planning! Creating a document that lists the posting frequencies for each Social Media platform per week is a key component. But remember that each Social Media platform works with a different strategy, yet they all achieve the same goal. For example, doing two to three posts per day on Facebook is a very effective strategy, however on YouTube you might only be able to post one to two videos a week.
  • Organised content. Scheduling time out will make it easier for you to have more time to think about content that will engage with your audience. Social Media management tools like Hootsuite make it super simple to schedule posts in advance.

WARNING: If one of the Social Media platforms you use is LinkedIn, please be aware that LinkedIn prioritizes content that is posted manually, therefore if you schedule content through a Social Media management tool your content might appear last on the newsfeed.

  • Analyzing data. Checking the engagement you have with your audience will help you determine when you should post certain types of content, for example, if you notice that your audience is more engaged at night time then program posts with educational content that take potential customers to your website. Don’t forget the whole idea of Social Media is to increase revenue.

TIP: Hootsuite has a great analytics option where you can see a summary of how your posts are going within your Social Media platforms (see example below).

Building a procedure will allow you to have better and more accurate content in a shorter period of time.

2. The rule of thirds

A couple of months ago I shared with you a rule on ‘How to share better content on Social Media’. Remember, all of these tips are the ingredients for the ‘Social Media strategy’ cake.

3. Re-post, re-post, re-post

The biggest mistake we commonly make is to think that all digital platforms are supposed to work the same way. If you send the same email four times in four weeks you will definitely get a large percentage of people unsubscribing to the service, however if you share the same evergreen post four times in four weeks, your message will get across to a broader audience and you could increase the level of engagement with your fans.

IMPORTANT: Think of different ways you can promote the same article/post to catch the eye of various types of customers, for example:

  • Use only the title of the article
  • Use only the subtitle of the article
  • Insert relevant hashtags
  • Add a quote from the article
