An industry specific patented solution is now available to professional organisations. This OH&S management program will make the task of contractor management easier and make you more efficient with less effort.
Across all industries sub-contractor management is costly, time consuming and a never ending problem. With extra emphasis on safety performance, and the new harmonisation laws coming into effect next year, it is vital for all duty holders to ensure their Occupational Health and Safety and Sub-Contractor Management Plans are adequate and systemised. Fortunately, technology is making that an easier task.
Making it simple to develop a culture of safety
A new OHS software system called CASSA is becoming the talk of the town with its ability to simplify the OH&S management process and be user friendly to all levels of user. It has taken two years to be an overnight success. In that time, the developers undertook an intensive series of investigations into the latest OHS issues impacting industry, the frustrations industry professionals are faced with, and what businesses were or were not doing in response to legislation. “The greatest concern is the different interpretations of the legislation which is the basis on which people build their safety management systems. This was further highlighted by the lack of awareness and understanding of the new harmonisation laws coming into effect in January 2012,” says Brendon Davenport, Managing Director of BMS Global, the company that created CASSA.
BMS Global studies found that businesses tended to play to the threat of an audit. Davenport found that “Organisations would frantically run around trying to bring their safety standards up to date by sticking Band-Aids all over their managements systems hoping to pass the invisible and unfathomable safety audit line. Rather than taking a proactive approach to OHS management, most organisation’s leave it to chance mainly because they do not have a system in place that monitors and enforces compliance.”
Proven shortfalls in OHS Management Systems
The studies identified that there were three main shortfalls in existing OH&S Management Systems where subcontractors are utilised, which included:
- Real time Sub-Contractor Management;
- Effective Safety System Implementation;
- Proactively addressing and communicating the underlying safety concerns and issues within the workplace.
“We identified that sub-contractor management, including monitoring, reviewing and reporting, is a very big issue and one of great consequence if managed inadequately. The way sub-contractors are managed needs to be addressed by all organisations, especially with the new harmonisation laws placing more responsibility on senior management, and more focus on sub-contractors. It should be at the top of their agenda,” says Davenport.
Would you benefit from managing your OH&S obligations systematically?
Business ownership, especially in high risk industries like construction and road crews, demands responsibility and an adherence to everchanging legal obligations. Effectively managing the health and safety of sub-contractors, and reducing injury and fatality rates must be paramount, especially when the possibility of large fines and criminal convictions are the consequence for not doing so.
CASSA’s, patented software system is poised to set a new standard for OHS management in Australia. As it stands, the product meets AS NZS 4801 (OHS) standards and all Australian legislative requirements. CASSA provides a new model for how companies manage their OHS requirements and sub-contractors, by offering an innovative range of tools. These include:
- Client specific OHS plan development services,
- Audit templates,
- Database of industry forms,
- Checklists, policies and procedures,
- Automated Sub-Contractor Management facilities,
- Organisations have a “look through” to sub-contractors compliance status in real time,
- Customised online induction and operational training.
The combination of these tools, together with the support of CASSA client representatives, assists in ensuring that companies maintain and improve OHS performance to cover their legislative obligations.
BMS Global, the company behind CASSA, also provides consulting services, training courses and internal audits that aim to ensure that client companies are implementing CASSA properly throughout their organisations, and that they are receiving the intended benefits of the product. Is YOUR Business OHS Compliant?
Industry Statistics show that only 15 - 17 % of businesses are 100% Compliant. When an incident occurs, the consequences for businesses who have not complied with their OHS Responsibilities are severe. Many companies can not recover from the substantial costs and penalties of litigation. This is the reason why so many companies are now looking towards CASSA as the most cost effective solution to their OHS compliance & management problems.
